Fitness Training

Cardio • Conditioning • Coaching

Want to get in the best shape of your life? Get ready for it. The focus here is on cardio, plyometrics, and lightweight strength & resistance training. We offer what we refer to as the 3-tiered coach approach™

Personalized Training (tier 1): Your trainer will get to know you, and listen to what you need, in order to adapt any of the pre-planned exercises to meet your individual needs. We want to help you reach your specific fitness goals. We make fitness fun! We're grinding, but we don't want you to feel like it has to be a chore. Stay motivated!

Wellness Coaching (tier 2): Do you have any questions about diet, nutrition, health and wellness, or longevity? We can help. We have a wealth of knowledge we're happy to share. This includes tips on what's healthy and what's not, what science has to say about that, etc... just ask us! If we don't know the answer, then we'll find out for you.

Self-defense Coaching (tier 3): Want to learn how to defend yourself while getting your workout in? We can do that. We're experts in martial arts! You'll learn a striking-based mix of fighting techniques that you can practice while you knock out your workout. You'll constantly be learning something new. That's exercise for your brain!

How it works: There's no class times. You just stop by the facility any time it's open for fitness training and we'll get you started right away. We're on your schedule!

There's 18 blue zones with a different exercise at each one. The bell rings every 2 minutes, and you'll go through all 18 blue zones from start to finish, including 0 to 5 warm up rounds, and maybe a round or two at the end to cool down and stretch.

Your trainer will make any adjustments necessary to personalize your workout for you, your goals, your abilities, any past injuries you may have experienced, and your likes and dislikes. Please feel free to give us your feedback. We're here for you!

Think all that's going to be expensive? Nope. We offer the best value in town! Check out our pricing plans and sign up today!

Fitness Training FAQs:
How long will my workout take?
Typically it takes between 35 and 50 minutes. You can do more or less if you want to. It's up to you.

Do I have to show up at a certain time?
Nope. You can start any time the facility is open for fitness training. Please leave enough time before the facility closes to complete your workout though.

Should I still come if I only have 10 minutes?
Yep. Do it. All movement counts. Plus behavioral changes are the result of doing small things often. Just show up!

What equipment will I need?
We provide you with everything you'll need. This includes one free pair of inner gloves for you to keep, and free access to any of our venum brand boxing gloves and shin guards.

Are inner gloves or hand wraps required?
Yes. We can't let anyone participate without them for safety and sanitation reasons. We provide you with one free pair when you sign up. Please don't forget to bring them. You can always purchase a new pair from us if you need to.

I have my own gloves can I use those?
Sure. You can use any of your own equipment if you'd like. For more serious fitness fighters, we recommend purchasing your own elite set of inner gloves.

What do I wear?
Just wear your regular workout clothes. No jeans or jewelry please.

Can I wear shoes on the mats?
No street shoes are allowed on the mats. You can purchase a pair of wrestling shoes to wear on the mats if you wish. We really don't recommend it though because it creates pressure points around your ankles and feet that can quickly become painful when you're kicking.

Do I have to sign a contract?
Nope. No contracts. You hate'em. We do too.

Are their any hidden fees?
None. We don't charge sign up, registration, enrollment, cancellation, gym cleaning, or any other silly fees. We don't believe in them. It's all included with your membership. We're hassle free here.

Do you offer any discounts?
We sure do. We offer a family discount, a 6-month commitment discount, kids half price fitness, and tell a friend (referral) discounts. Ask us for more details.

How can I pay for my membership?
Bring a payment card with you when you sign up. We'll store your card info on file with our payment processor, and you'll be automatically billed each month until you notify us that you want to cancel your membership.

Can I cancel anytime?
Yep. Anytime you want (unless you purchased a plan with a discount for a 6-month commitment... in that case you can only cancel your membership at the end of your commitment period).

How do I cancel my membership?
Just let us know and we'll cancel it for you.

Do you have child care?
No, but we do offer kids half price fitness so they can workout with you. This is available for kids aged 7 - 13.

Do you have to be 18 or older to do fitness?
Nope. You just need your parent's consent. Kids, teens, and young adults are all welcome (must be 7 or older). Kids between the ages of 7 through 13, that sign up with a parent, are eligible to receive the kids half price fitness discount. You may also want to consider signing your children up for our Martial Arts classes.

How often does the workout change?
Daily. At least one blue zone exercise will be replaced daily. This results in a completely new workout every 3 weeks. It's an ideal balance between the repitition necessary for learning and practicing a new self-defense technique, and varying up your workout routine to keep it fresh.

Will I just learn to kick and punch?
Nope. We create exercises based on real self-defense techniques drawn from a myriad of martial arts disciplines.

Is this for beginners?
Beginners are welcome! Whether you're just putting on gloves for the first time, or you're a seasoned veteran, your trainer will tailor your workout to you and your current abilities.

How intense is it?
Depends. We go at your pace. Are you a begginner just starting out? We can do that! Or are you wanting serious athlete level intensity? We can do that too!

Is it really high impact?
It can be if you hit the bags with a lot of power. This isn't necessary though, and generally speaking, we recommend you hit the bags lightly to begin with. We call this "touching it up". To start with, we just want you to touch up the bags until your body begins to adapt and stregthen.

How much and/or how often do you recommend working out?
We recommend at least 30 minutes of cardio exercise 3 times a week.

Will this work my entire body?
Yep. The workouts are designed to work your whole body so you can feel confident, and be in fight ready shape at all times.

Do I get anything if I tell my friends?
Yep. If any of your friends mention that they heard about us from you then they will receive $26.50 off their first month, and you'll receive $26.50 off your next month. This can accumulate for each person referred. Thanks for spreading the word!

Martial Arts for Kids: The class begins at 4pm, and goes for a half hour. It's for elementary school aged children. We are no-gi. The students can just wear regular P.E. type clothes. We still wear our belts to indicate rank though.

The class consists mainly of a striking-based mix of muay thai, kickboxing, taekwondo, and Japanese karate, although movements and techniques will be drawn from a myriad of different styles and disciplines.

While the class is primarily striking, we will also be covering some grappling, wrestling, and ground striking techniques. This includes various sweeps, defending takedowns, and various striking techniques from top or bottom position, just to give you an idea.

The format for the class is approximately 10-10-10. This means ten minutes of conditioning, ten minutes of hands-on instruction, and ten minutes of supervised practice time on the bags and dummies. This allows the students to reinforce what they've learned, during which time they'll receive additional instruction, correction, and guidance.

For the kids class, the movements and concepts are a little more basic for a given belt level, but we'll still go well beyond just learning to punch and kick.

Martial Arts for Teens: This class begins at 4:45pm, and goes for a half hour. It's for middle and high school aged participants. It's basically the same style and format as the kids class described above except that the movements for the Martial Arts for Teens class are more intricate and technical. The instruction is more detailed, and more thoroughly developed. The teen class incorporates more advanced concepts for any given belt level, and the students will learn more age appropriate fighting content.

Martial Arts for Parties: Rent the facility for your very own ninja party or special event. Have your next party with us!

Martial Arts FAQs:
What days and times are the classes?
4pm and 4:45pm Monday - Friday for the Kids and Teens class respectively.

Do we do belt testing?
No. We wear belts, but we don't test for them. Subsequently, there are no belt testing fees like you'll find elsewhere.

How are belts awarded?
Belts are awarded based primarily on attendance in the classes over time. Additionally, the instructor will evaluate the ability of the student to demonstrate their knowledge and fluidity in the concepts and movements over time as they participate in the classes. We provide the new belts at no cost to you.

What are the ranks for the belts?
There are eight belts from white to black belt. The student begins as a no belt. For all the ranks, stop by the front counter and pick-up a magnetic card that shows the belt progression to take home and put on your refrigerator.

What should I wear?
Just wear regular gym clothes.

Why don't we wear gi's?
You don't fight in a gi.

Do I have to sign a contract?
Nope. No contracts. You hate'em. We do too.

Is their a registration fee or any other hidden fees?
Nope. No sign-up, enrollment, registration, equipment, gi, board-breaking, belt testing, or any other silly fees. Even the newly awarded belts are free. We just charge one affordable monthy membership; that's it. The only small exception to this would be if your one free pair of inner gloves that we give to you when you sign-up are ever lost or worn out. Then you'll need to purchase a new pair, either here or somewhere else, like Amazon.

How can I pay for the classes?
Classes are sold on a monthly membership basis.

Do you offer a family discount?
Yes we do. It's $26.50 off per month. The discount applies to every person after the first. It also applies to parents who sign-up for the fitness program, or vice-versa. Contact us for more details.

Do I get anything if I tell my friends?
Yep. If any of your friends mention that they heard about us from you then they will receive $26.50 off their first month, and you'll receive $26.50 off your next month. This can accumulate for each person referred. Thanks for spreading the word!

What equipment do I need?
We provide the students with everything they need. You'll have free access to the boxing gloves, and sometimes you'll use our shin guards. We also provide students with one free pair of inner gloves when they sign up. A groin protector is not necessary, but you may want to invest in some compression shorts to wear underneath any athletic shorts.

Are inner gloves or hand wraps required to participate?
Yes. We can't let anyone participate without them for safety and sanitation reasons. We provide you with one free pair when you sign up. Please don't forget to bring them. You can always purchase a new pair from us if you need to.

Can I use my own hand wraps or gloves?
Sure.

What do you recommend for added traction on the mats?
Students can wear socks, wrestling shoes, or their bare feet on the mats. Socks can be a little slippery. Wrestling shoes have plenty of traction but create pressure points around your feet and ankles that can be painful when kicking the bags. We` typically recommend either bare feet, or you can purchase athletic non-slip socks with grip on the bottom. We don't sell any socks here. Street shoes are never allowed on the mats.

Do you have a martial arts class for adults?
Nope. For adults, we recommend either our fitness training and/or booking their own party or private event with a martial arts upgrade.

Can parents watch?
Yes. We'll have some chairs set up in the front entry area for parents to sit and watch. Please don't leave your young children unattended.

Why do we learn techniques from several different styles?
The focus here is on learning how to defend ourselves for real. Therefore, we don't limit ourselves to any particular fighting style or set of skills.

Do we learn grappling and/or jui jitsu here?
We primarily learn striking-based techniques, but yes, we do learn some grappling and jui-jitsu here. For the most part, we practice on a grappling dummy. If you really want to learn to be a great grappler, I can provide you with a recommendation for another martial arts academy that focuses on this discipline.

Do we do any sparring or rolling?
No. We practice on the bags, grappling dummies, and with the coaches, for example using the thai pads.

Why do we start with conditioning?
Just like any other athletic sport, students need to get in great shape as the foundation for performing well and avoiding injuries.

Will this help me if I'm being bullied?
Yes! You'll learn to defend yourself, and you'll gain more and more confidence in your abilities over time. You'll find your inner courage and strength here.

Important: no jeans, jewelry, or shoes are allowed on the mats. Please remember to inform your guests not to wear jeans to your event.

Facility rental pricing: With pricing you have two choices, either the host pays, or each individual guest pays.

Host pays : $69.50 / half-hour †
Guests pay : $6.95 / guest / half-hour ††

† When the host pays, a 1-hr minimum is required.
†† When guests pay for themselves, there is a minimum of 1-hr and 10 guests required. The host will be required to put down a $69.50 deposit that is fully refundable so long as 10+ guests show up.

Please be aware that each guest will need to either bring their own hand wraps from home, or purchase a pair of hand wraps from us. We cannot allow anyone to hit the bags, or use our boxing gloves, without them. Guests that are purely spectators do not need to purchase these. If you prefer, inner gloves are also available for purchase, instead of hand wraps.

Youth hand wraps : $3.25
Adult hand wraps : $6.50
Inner gloves : $12.75

Optional upgrades: We offer two optional upgrades when you rent our facility for your own party or special event.

Option #1 Martial Arts, Self-defense, or Ninja training:
With this optional upgrade, your party will receive specialized martial arts training in various fighting techniques. Depending on the type of party, and the particular interests and ages of the participants involved, the techniques will range from beginner level all the way up to advanced.

Option #2 Nerf Rival™ party:
With this optional upgrade, your party will be provided with Nerf Rival™ guns, virtually unlimited ammo, and face shields for protection. The participants will be given training on how to use their nerf gun while they empty the chamber in a fun sharp-shooting challenge. After that, they'll be divided into teams and don a numbered vest with their team color. The entire space becomes their battlefield as they shoot it out in exciting team-based nerf war games. Your attendant will be constantly reloading spare blasters so that participants can simply switch weapons for a newly reloaded one whenever they run out of rounds using their current one.

Here's a video of a Nerf Rival™ rifle we have available to play with:

Optional upgrade pricing: The pricing for either upgrade option is the same. You can add one or both upgrade options if you want, for any amount of time you want. The cost of optional upgrades are in addition to the cost for renting the facility.

For example, for a kids Ninja party, you may want to rent the facility for 2 hours. Depending on the number of kids, this might allow one hour for all of the free activities, including the Ninja Warrior obstacle course, and a half hour for cake and presents. You can upgrade the remaining 30 minutes of your rental time to have one of our martial arts experts give the kids a fun-filled ninja training class where they will learn real ninja fighting moves!

Upgrade pricing (Host pays) : $69.50 / half-hour / upgrade option
Upgrade pricing (Guests pay) : $6.95 / guest / half-hour / upgrade option

For the example Ninja party described above (where the host pays for the party):
($69.50 x 4) to rent the facility for 2 hours + $69.50 to upgrade a half hour of that time = $347.50*
(* You'll need to add the cost of hand wraps for each little ninja to obtain the total cost of the party.)

Party & Special Events FAQs:
What times are available for parties?
Contact us to see. Generally speaking though, we have Friday at 7:30pm or after, Saturday at 1pm or after, and Sunday at 12pm or after.

How big is the facility?
2000 square feet. Nearly all of this space is available for use by your event. Find out more about our facility.

How many people can I have at my party?
That depends on what you need. Get in touch with us and we'll do our best to find a way to accomdate what you need.

Can we bring our own food and drinks into your facility?
Yes, but we would prefer no food or drinks in the matted areas, although there are some exceptions to this. There is a fairly spacious front entry area with tables and chairs where you're welcome to enjoy any food or drinks you may have.

Is the refrigerator and/or freezer big enough to hold a cake?
It is. Anything bigger than 16" though and you might want to confirm with us first.

Do you provide any paper plates, utensils, or napkins?
Nope. You can bring your own though.

How many obstacles does the Ninja Warrior course have?
30.

Can we do the Ninja Warrior obstacle course more than once?
Sure. You can do it as many times as you want. You'll probably want to! If you think your guests are going to want to do it more than once, then you'll want to plan on renting the facility for extra time to account for the additional activity.

How long are the various free activities?
It depends on how many participants you have.
Basic class on kicking and punching ... about 10 minutes.
Hand wrapping demonstrations for kids ... about 20 minutes for 10 kids.
Hand wrapping demonstrations for adults ... about 15 minutes.
Ninja warrior obstacle course for kids ... about 20 minutes for 10 kids + 10 a minute intro.
Ninja warror obstacle course for adults ... about 40 minutes for 10 adults + 10 minute intro.
Supervised play time on the bags ... it's up to you (usually between 15 to 30 minutes).

How long should I book my party for?
That all depends on what you want to do. Generally speaking, 1 hour won't be enough time to have cake and open presents unless you don't want to do the free ninja warrior obstacle course. The 1 hour option is available though if you want to save money, perhaps because you plan on opening presents and eating cake elsewhere. Typically, 2 hours is a good amount of time to book (for about 10 guests).

If you want to book one of our optional upgrades, like a Nerf or Ninja party, your best bet is to book at least 2 hours, again depending on how many people you have in your party, and what all you want to do. Get in touch with us and we'll do our best to help you determine what will work best for you!

How do I book and pay for my party?
Host pays option: the full rental amount is due at booking. If you need to cancel for any reason, contact us and you will be refunded 50% of the total amount paid at the time of booking. Please keep in mind that you will need to purchase hand wraps for each participant (excluding spectators) on the day you arrive.

Guests pay option: the host must put down $69.50 at the time of booking. If you need to cancel for any reason, contact us and you will be refunded $34.75 of the total amount put down to hold your booking. On the day of the event, each guest will pay for themselves upon entry, including the cost of hand wraps if needed. The amount paid by the host will then be fully refunded on the next business day so long as at least 10+ guests showed up.

What forms of payment are accepted at the door?
You can pay with cash (exact change please).
Or you can pay with a credit or debit card.

Pay with Credit or Debit card

Or you can pay using Cash App or Paypal if you wish as well:
Cash App - $PoundOffFitness
Paypal - @PoundOffFitness

Do all guests need to sign a waiver?
Yes. Each individual is required to sign a waiver, even spectators. Children and teens under the age of 18 must have their waiver signed by a parent or guardian. You can have your guests print and sign a waiver at home, and just bring it with them if you want.

Do I have to purchase hand wraps?
Spectators, like parents for instance, do not need to purchase hand wraps. All participants that are not spectators are required to have hand wraps.

What are inner gloves?
Inner gloves are just padded gloves that go on underneath your boxing gloves to protect your hands. They are like hand wraps except you don't have to spend a lot of time wrapping them on.

Can I play my own music?
Yes, we use the 3.5 mm headphone jack on an android phone. If you don't have a headphone jack, then you can try connecting to the speakers via bluetooth.

Can you play kid appropriate music?
Yes. Typically we'll play KIDZ BOP for kids parties.

Do Nerf Rival™ bullets hurt when they hit you?
No. They're pretty soft. And all the participants are required to face shields for protection.

Can we bring alcohol into your facility?
Yes, you can bring your own. We don't sell it. And legally, we aren't even allowed to touch it in any way. Please drink responsibily, and take all of your alcohol with you when you leave. Please no drinking in the matted area. We have a fairly spacious front entry area that you can drink in.

What should we wear?
We recommend wearing regular workout or P.E. clothes. No jeans, jewelry, or shoes are allowed on the mats so please let your guests know not to wear jeans. Kids and teens will be asked to remove their shoes when they enter the faility. Guests that remain in the front entry area as spectators may leave their shoes on.

Meet The Owner

Hi! I'm super motivated, and I like to make things happen. I love helping people succeed at reaching their fitness and martial arts goals. I have a lot of faith in the inner power that comes from believing. Let's do this!

I have an M.S. in Computer Science from GA Tech, and an M.S. in Biology from GSU (with a concentration in neuro and immunology). I've read hundreds of scientic journal articles on health, longevity, metabolism, stress, our microbiomes, inflammation, neurogenesis, nutrition, gut health, epigenetics, our immune systems, and the list goes on. I can help you make sense out of all the information that's out there on health.

I've made a serious study of martial arts for almost a decade now. I have a black belt in Japanese karate, but I've also studied all the major martial arts disciplines and fighting styles to some degree. For example: muay thai, kickboxing, karate, taekwondo, wrestling, boxing, bjj, ground and pound, judo throws, mma, and fighting techniques that can't otherwise be classified. My specialty is striking.

My passion for fitness and athletics all begin when I was a kid. I played football, and I did karate and boxing. When I was 5, I had a punching bag hanging in my room, and a speed bag mounted in the laundry room. I grew up punching and kicking everything (except people).

I also wrestled in high school, and that's when my passion for weightlifting and working out in the gym took hold. More recently, I took up training again at American Top Team almost 10 years ago now, and since that time I've trained all over Atlanta at various big box gyms, mixed martial arts, and kickboxing clubs.

This is what I do. I eat, sleep, and breathe health, fitness, and martial arts! I've been certified as a personal trainer so that I can coach you into being in the best fight-ready shape of your life. It's also about diet and nutrition, prioritizing rest and recovery, in addition to sleeping well, reducing stress, and being on top of your social game (and I don't mean social media). I'm talking about real connections with others.

I'm passionate about eating clean, getting better everyday, and living an all-around healthier lifestyle. Other activities I enjoy include: cooking, learning, painting, trail running, muddy obstacle courses, walks in the sunshine, moutain biking, snow skiing, volleyball, and hiking just to name a few of my favorites.

There is no respect for others without humility in one's self.

Humility is being open to understanding others.
